2010 Highlights
Camp Patriot's 2010 Adventures - Midst PLANNING, PLANNING, PLANNING for 2011!
The 2010 Mt Rainier Climb
The Mt Rainier Climb in July is the highlight of each year. All climb participants came to a week of rigorous climb training the end of April. Robert Vera of Iron90 Workplace Wellness, Phoenix AZ, in cooperation with Curtis Fawley, FarWest Log & Timber Construction, Carbondale CO, and head guide, provided a program of expert preparation for our veterans. Marriott hotels hosted the team providing first class accomodations for their every need.
July 9-15 The time has now come... The four Veterans arrived in Seattle starting Wednesday, July 7th. The afternoon of Friday, July 9th they received a tour of Qwest Field by our Seahawks hosts. Friday evening they will be the guests of honor at our annual Qwest dinner/auction fundraiser, featuring Dr Scott Parazynski as our celebrity speaker. Dr. Parazynski is a medical doctor, NASA astronaut (flew 5 shuttle missions, 7 space walks) and mountain climber (climbed Mt Everest last year). Learn more about Dr Parazynski.
The public is invited to the Qwest Dinner Auction at the Qwest FSN lounge - tho a deadline was set for ordering tickets, space was still available for those wishing to attend this gala event. For details click here.
For those curious about what the climb preparation entails. Curtis Fawley, our head Rainier guide, sends a "climb packet" to those wanting to join the climb. It includes a description of what the climb will be like, the climb itinerary, physical conditioning required, an equipment gear list, medical release and holdharmless forms, as well as a recommended reading list.
The four Veterans who participated this year are as follows. Click on their names to read more about them:

2nd Qtr Activity introduced a variety of new experiences:
April 19-24 The Mt Rainier climbers completed training camp in Phoenix and Flagstaff AZ. Jason Redman and Mike Day both spoke at various promotional gatherings. Attendees were impressed with their courage and practical wisdom for themselves.
May 17th was a charity UMS Banking Golf Tournament for the benefit of Camp Patriot and PLGA sponsored by actor Cole Houser and Dylan Gaines family. Held at the Hacienda Country Club in CA it included dinner and live auction.
June 12-15 Camp Patriot and guests, green berets MSgt Gil Magallanes Jr (ret) and Sgt Mario Barragan, participated in the 150th Anniversary Ride of the Pony Express. They were sworn in as Postal Carrier's and covered a large portion of the route through UT. Jack Rhodes, a
direct descendent of Major Howard Egan, Supt. and first rider of the Pony Express route between Salt Lake City and Roberts Creek NV joined in the project.
The Pony Express ride has been reenacted between MO and CA for 30 years, this year W to E. Camp Patriot's participation in the ride will be primarily in Utah, depending on assessment of our soldiers injuries and how far they want to ride. A number of companies such as Wrangler and Justin Boots came alongside us in this historical adventure. Check out www.xphomestation.com/ about the articles so far on the 150th anniversary.
August 28 Camp Patriot was this year's beneficiary of Wrangler's National program at the Benton County WA Fair & Rodeo final night. Included in the plans was Larry Warner (Korean Era) Marine parachuting into the rodeo stadium with the American flag and a possible fly by. Lots of Patriotic displays and salute to our troops! We are excited to have the Vice President of Wrangler Joe Hertz coming out to participate with us during this event!
